Velvet Pincushion test post

I made this pincushion during my Spring 2010 independent study on 1830s women’s clothing. It is a common shape and size, based on directions in The Workwoman’s Guide and on several extant originals in museum collections. It is made of black silk velvet with a white silk organza ruffle. It is entirely hand-stitched with cotton thread and is stuffed with wool roving.
